Founded in 1963, Furniture Fair is a quality home furnishings brand. They have an extensive network of stores in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Their employee base of about 400 primarily consists of sales employees and operation managers. Their sales approach and operational model are very relational and they believe in offering the best to their customers and employees. Furniture Fair has implemented Auzmor Learn for their sales and onboarding training requirements.

Consistent training

Furniture Fair was training their staff in person at their corporate office. However, it got difficult for people to travel from places that were three or four hours away and it was costing the company a lot more money logistically. Auzmor helped them develop a comprehensive and consistent training structure wherein the employees could effectively train remotely. The shift in the medium also positively impacted the performance output as their staff was more prepared when they were placed on-site and also had ready reference material for better functioning.

Onboarding employees

The onboarding process of Furniture Fair rolled anywhere between seven days to two weeks with several modifications made to it Since they onboarded employees in person, they had to bring everyone to their corporate office for this training and accommodate them. This required the training team to cover everything in a stricter timeline. Auzmor helped them streamline their onboarding process by allowing Peggy to create ‘Paths’ for their new hires. Now they have a three-day onboarding structure wherein the employees complete three paths in three days. With Auzmor the learners are able to learn at their own pace and can even extend the onboarding process by a day or two if they need time to cover the essential courses.

Operational training requirements Furniture Fair’s operational training requirements include proprietary software, instructional courses for generating sales orders, coding and pricing the items, and much more They required a learning platform that could facilitate their operational training requirements with the kind of relational approach they intended. Auzmor’s blended learning features, like ‘Events,’ ensured the employees are being trained in the exact way Furniture Fair wanted. Peggy is now able to easily create courses for each stage of their operational training process and conducts regular events or webinars to keep the learners engaged and address any concerns with respect to the courses. Furniture Fair was not tracking any training metrics which led to a little disconnect between the learners and training staff. Initially, they had employees who would get nervous during tests and were not able to perform at par with their skillset They wanted to build a true learning environment focused on learning and the application of knowledge. Auzmor helped them in eliminating the disconnect by offering progress metrics that did not involve testing of the learners, such as course completion rate. This way, they were able to understand if a particular course was working for their learners. They now have fewer employees who struggle with training and are able to sell easily.

What was the implementation process like for you?

“The process was really smooth and the Auzmor support team was always there to address any concerns. We initially did two soft launches with a batch of eight to ten employees and then launched it for everyone. We had about three or four classes wherein we would make employees use the system while they were sitting in front of us and addressed any concerns that were coming up instantly. We launched in August 2021 and by September everyone was ready.”

What are the two pieces of advice you would give to new buyers?

“First, you have to ensure you have someone who can build the required content for you. Building content is the most essential part of the training process and it needs to be properly structured. Second, you need to give yourself reasonable timelines for everything from implementation to content creation.”

“I like the course authoring tool. I did not have an instructional design background so I had never used an authoring tool before. With Auzmor, it was a little bit of a learning process for me but now I actively create courses and paths for onboarding and sales training programs.”
